Sony W252 Wearable Walkman MP3 Player Review - Softpedia

We can say that we're pretty lucky since, over time, we've had the chance to test most of the new products introduced by Sony in their various Walkman lines, whether we're talking about the company's super-slim A-845 model or their touch-enabled X-series (with plenty of other products in between), but we really wanted to check out one of their very futuristic-looking wearable Walkman products as well.

So, without further ado, here's the Sony W252 Wearable Walkman MP3 Player (yeah, that's a pretty long name, by all accounts), a music player pertaining to the Japanese company's W series that tackles this whole concept from a completely different angle, bringing the whole device to the user's ears, rather than just the earphones.

So, what really makes this thing wearable (and thus, completely hands-free) is the fact that it is actually formed out of two separate parts, united by a well-insulated cable that goes behind the user's neck/head, while each of the two units pack their own, built-in earphone.

To be perfectly honest, when taking this thing out of the box, we were a bit spooked by its design and found it a tad difficult to get along with (at least when compared to other multimedia players we've tested), but after getting the hang of it, we've come to the conclusion that this is perhaps the most portable Walkman Sony has ever come up with.

But enough with the chit-chat, it's now time to get to the nitty-gritty and see what the W252 is all about, in terms of design, features and overall performance.

Sony NEX-VG10E Gets AF Support with A-mount Lenses via Firmware Upgrade - Softpedia

Without a doubt, Sony's interchangeable-lens Handycam NEX-VG10E Full HD camcorder has been one of the hottest products of this type to be unveiled in 2010, the imager leveraging the interchangeable lens technology introduced with the company's NEX series of pocket DSLRs (the E-mount). However, since the number of E-mount lenses available on the market is still rather limited, the devices from the NEX series also support lenses from the much better-known A-mount line, used by the rest of Sony's alpha DSLRs. And now, Sony has just revealed the fact that the latest firmware upgrade for the NEX-VG10E will enable autofocus operation when using their camcorder with a wide range of optional A-mount interchangeable lenses.

Going Hands-On with Sony's Quad-SSD Vaio Z

Without a doubt, Sony's Vaio Z series notebooks are some of the most powerful, portable and elegant computing systems out there, the Japanese company really managing to outdo itself with the latest addition to the series, which we've had the chance to check out live, during a local launch event.

First and foremost, it's important to mention that, similar to all of the other business Vaios, the Z series is manufactured entirely in Japan, at Nagano, in a factory Softpedia had the privilege of visiting earlier this year.

This ensures that the Z series provides a great build-quality, the device being crafted from carbon fiber and aluminium for maximum portability and robustness.

Additionally, the notebook has an all-black design, as well as a tough yet light palmrest is precision-machined from a single thick slab of aluminium.

Moreover, despite its cook looks and the powerful hardware packed within (which we'll detail as follows), the Z series Vaio is actually pretty lightweight and easy to carry around, the device tipping the scales at under 1.47 kilos).

However, leaving aside the elegant, business-oriented external design, what really makes Sony's Vaio Z series stand out is the extreme level of performance it provides, a lot more than one would normally expect from such a portable system.
